1982-08-18 [[Wilfredo Gomez]] w rtd 7 (15) [[Roberto Rubaldino]], Hiram Bithorn Stadium, San Juan, Puerto Rico - WBC. Referee: Isidro Rodriguez. No match for the fast moving, hard-punching champion, Rubaldino (122), cut over the left eye and nearing exhaustion, was retired on his stool at the end of the seventh round having complained of low punches. Although Gomez (122) had failed to drop the Mexican he had certainly given him a going over and his lateral movement, fast jab and powerful body attacks ultimately proved too much for a game foe.
