1982-09-18 Rafael Limon w rsc 7 (15) Chung-Il Choi, Olympic Auditorium, Los Angeles, California, USA - WBC. Referee: Richard Steele. Looking to be coasting to an easy victory after six rounds, having fought with great tactical awareness and skill, the elusive Choi (130) had nullified everything the champion tried and had countered with left jabs and right crosses that consistently found their mark. It seemed that the title was going to change hands, especially when Limon (129¾) was badly cut over the left eye in the sixth. Concentrating on Choi’s body in the seventh brought fresh hope for Limon and a terrific left hook almost had the South Korean down and out, but after getting to his feet he was soon dropped again when more vicious hooks to the midsection smashed him down. Just about making it to his feet for the second time, Choi was set about again and this time the referee had seen enough and called it off with 27 seconds of the session remaining.
