1982-10-16 Eusebio Pedroza drew 15 Bernard Taylor, The Coliseum, Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - WBA. Referee: Stan Christodoulou. Scorecards: 147-143, 144-146, 146-146. It took a strong finish by Pedroza (126) to retain his title after Taylor (125½) had frustrated him for most of the fight when never presenting a standing target and countering superbly. Occasionally, Taylor landed a solid shot that hurt the champion, but it was his jab that nearly won the fight and it took everything that Pedroza possessed to turn things around. After having his best round in the 13th, Pedroza attacked Taylor heavily to the body and despite warnings to keep his punches up he maintained his pressure through to the final bell to gain a share of the verdict. Both men finished with cuts, Pedroza by the right eye and Taylor over the left optic.
