27 October Jeff Chandler w rsc 9 (15) Miguel Iriarte, Resorts International Hotel, Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA - WBA. Referee: Joe Cortez. Despite not being floored, the game but inept Iriarte (117½), badly cut on the bridge of the nose, was picked apart by Chandler (117¾) who used every punch in the book and basically treated the contest as a sparring session. Iriarte never had a chance and when he was belted into the ropes in the ninth round, having to hang on to save himself from falling, the referee had seen enough, bringing matters to a close at 2.20 of the session.
