1982-11-30 Hilario Zapata w rsc 8 (15) Tadashi Tomori, Kuramae Arena, Tokyo, Japan - WBC. Referee: Ray Solis. Having won a disputed decision over Tomori (108) previously, this time round Zapata (108) started slowly before really going to work in the fifth round and then cutting the challenger badly over the left eye in the sixth. Put down on all fours and saved by the bell ending the seventh, Tomori survived and went head-to-head in the eighth until being blasted to the floor and rescued at 1.59 of the round by a humane referee, who had seen enough. It was later announced that as from 1 January 1983 all WBC title bouts would be contested over 12 rounds.
