1983-02-13 [[Leroy Haley]] w pts 12 [[Saoul Mamby]], Public Hall, Cleveland, Ohio, USA - WBC. Referee: Carlos Padilla. Scorecards: 115-114, 115-114, 115-113. Fighting over the shorter distance of 12 rounds, and a return bout, Mamby (140) tried to get off early with the jab but was met punch for punch by Haley (140), who countered well with both hands and kept on the move. There was never much in it, but Haley gradually went to the fore as Mamby, although landing the heavier punches of the fight, became more selective and allowed the stocky champion to make the running to the final bell. There were no knockdowns, but both men were cut above the left eye.
