1983-03-27 Larry Holmes w pts 12 Lucien Rodriguez, Watres Armory, Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA - WBC. Referee: Carlos Padilla. Scorecards: 120-109, 120-108, 120-108. In what was a poor fight, Holmes (221) successfully defended his title for the 14th time when easily beating the European champion, Lucien Rodriguez (209). By keeping on the move, the Frenchman made for a difficult target, but Holmes did not help himself when plodding after Rodriguez and although he knocked the latter down in the sixth with a big right uppercut and hurt him several times with rights to the head he was unable to force an early finish.
