1983-05-01 Edwin Rosario w pts 12 Jose Luis Ramirez, Roberto Clemente Coliseum, San Juan, Puerto Rico - WBC. Referee: Arthur Mercante. Scorecards: 115-113, 115-113, 115-113. Fighting for the vacant WBC version of the title following Alexis Arguello’s decision to hand back his belt, Rosario (134) took the verdict after a hard-fought battle over his tough southpaw opponent. There were no knockdowns, but both men threw hard punches and while Rosario picked his shots better Ramirez (134) took them well to come back heavy blows of his own to make it close. Unfortunately, Rosario cracked a bone in his right wrist and was forced to take a long lay-off before being booked to defend against Roberto Elizondo in March 1984.
