1983-10-19 Bruce Curry w pts 15 Leroy Haley, Showboat Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - WBC. Referee: Davy Pearl. Scorecards: 116-114, 115-113, 113-115. Although easing his way past Haley (138¼) for the second time, with this one being even closer the champion had to pull out all the stops before getting the nod on the scorecards. While Curry (139½) seemed to make the better start, Haley boxed well to make him miss repeatedly with some big shots before being hampered by a nasty cut over the left eye in the ninth. Haley had also done well in some of the hard-hitting exchanges between the pair, but it was Curry, throwing the greater number of punches in the last three sessions, who ultimately impressed the judges.
