1983-11-18 Hector Camacho w co 5 (12) Rafael Solis, Roberto Clemente Coliseum, San Juan, Puerto Rico - WBC. Referee: Octavio Meyran. After being fairly even for the opening four rounds, the challenger made the mistake of abandoning his jab-and-move routine in the fifth in favour of attack and quickly paid the price. Having hurt Camacho (129½) with a left uppercut he immediately walked on to a left hook which dumped him on the seat of his pants for ‘eight’. Back in the fray, Solis (129) was shown no mercy and a volley of punches put him on the floor again, this time to be counted out on the 2.02 mark.

Camacho relinquished the WBC version of the title in June 1984 to campaign as a lightweight, which was followed by Julio Cesar Chavez and Mario Martinez being matched to find a new champion.
