1983-12-10 Ju-Do Chun w co 5 (15) Ken Kasugai, Castle Sports Centre, Osaka, Japan - IBF. Formed in April as the United States Boxing Association/International (USBA/I), and renamed as the International Boxing Federation (IBF) in October, the organisation initially nominated Chul-Ho Kim, the former WBC champion, to meet Kasugai, who had been inactive for over two years, to decide their version of the title.

Although the fight was not sanctioned by the Japanese Boxing Commission, the IBF pressed ahead and when Kim was injured the South Korean champion, Chun, took his place. Thrown into the lion’s den, Kasugai, who was rescued by the referee in the fifth after taking a beating and being dropped twice in that round, was later suspended by the Commission along with eight others.
