1984-03-17 Edwin Rosario w rsc 1 (12) Roberto Elizondo, Hiram Bithorn Stadium, San Juan, Puerto Rico - WBC. Referee: Davy Pearl. Returning after a long layoff due to a wrist injury, Rosario (134½) showed no aversion to using the suspect right hand and was quickly into action with a big right over the top which buckled the challenger’s knees. Although Elizondo (134½) remained upright and tried to fight back another big right dropped him to his knees for ‘five’ and after taking the mandatory ‘eight’ he was back in the fray. Driven to the ropes by a furious two-fisted attack, Elizondo looked bewildered and was rescued by the referee with 63 seconds of the opening session still remaining after being put down by a heavy right to the head.
