1984-04-22 Hwan-Kil Yuh w pts 15 Rod Sequenan, Munhwa Gym, Seoul, South Korea - IBF. Referee: Sompong Suka. Scorecards: 146-144, 148-143, 143-145. Fighting for the vacant title as decreed by the IBF, Yuh (129¾) became that body’s first champion at the weight when outpointing Sequenan (129), following a battle between fellow southpaws. Yuh, a stocky, busy fighter, soon went to work and dropped Sequenan with a solid left in round two, prior to both men being on the verge of a kayo defeat in the fifth after a desperate exchange of punches. While the Filipino dominated from the sixth through to the ninth, from that point, Yuh, the younger man of the two, took over and ran home a worthy winner.
