1984-05-05 Ossie Ocasio w rsc 15 (15) John Odhiambo, Mets Pavilion, Guaynabo, Puerto Rico - WBA. Referee: Isidro Rodriguez. It was clear from the start that the challenger was no pushover for Ocasio (189), and using his longer reach well by the end of the seventh round he was in front. Unfortunately, in that session Odhiambo (187½) was cut over the left eye following a clash of heads, which encouraged Ocasio to pick up the pace. Still very much in the contest at that point, it was only when Odhiambo was badly hurt by a right to the jaw in the 13th that Ocasio took over. Fighting in extreme heat Odhiambo finally wilted, and although making it into the final session he was rescued by the referee with just 36 seconds of the fight remaining when unable to defend himself properly following a two-fisted attack from Ocasio.
