1984-06-23 Edwin Rosario w pts 12 Howard Davis, Roberto Clemente Coliseum, San Juan, Puerto Rico - WBC. Referee: Mike Jacobs. Scorecards: 115-114, 117-113, 113-114. Despite being dropped by a left hand in the second, the challenger came back strongly to pile up points in the middle rounds as he backed Rosario (133½) up with solid left jabs and combinations. Having been unable to take Davis (135) out of his stride during that period, it was in the tenth that Rosario got back into the fight following a serious body attack and he pressed on in the 11th with the same tactic. Two judges saw the fight level coming into the final session, but the very last punch of the contest, a cracking left hook that dropped Davis for the mandatory ‘eight’ gave Rosario the advantage.
