1984-12-01 [[Mike McCallum]] w rtd 13 (15) [[Luigi Minchillo]], Sports Palace, Milan, Italy - WBA. Referee: Frank Cappuccino. Badly behind on the cards, the challenger was retired by his corner at the end of the 13th, having taken a battering at the hands of McCallum (153), who was almost hitting him at will at times. Although Minchillo (153) performed at his best and was never down he was totally outclassed by a champion who just had too much of everything for him and by the halfway stage he was being hit by jabs, hooks, right hands and uppercuts to head and body without much being returned. Earlier in the fight, the Italian used his strength to bulldoze McCallum, but once those tactics failed to pay dividends and he began to tire the end was always in sight.
