1985-01-27 [[Rocky Lockridge]] w rtd 6 (15) [[Kamel Bou-Ali]], Conference Centre, Riva Del Garda, Italy - WBA. Referee: Tony Perez. Prior to the fifth round, Bou-Ali (129¼) had given a reasonable account of himself against the hard-hitting champion, but even at that stage one could see that his punches were having little effect. In the fifth, Lockridge (129) began to open up with both hands and a left-right to the jaw hurt the Tunisian before a corking left hook smashed him down for the compulsory ‘eight’ count. Saved by the bell, Bou-Ali, still looking wobbly in the sixth, appeared to be fighting on instinct alone and when he was belted by lefts and rights after trying to fight back his corner signalled his retirement after 59 seconds of the round had elapsed.
