1985-02-15 Lester Ellis w pts 15 Hwan-Kil Yuh, Festival Hall, Melbourne, Australia - IBF. Referee: Pat McMurtry. Scorecards: 145-142, 145-142, 144-147. Much taller than the stocky southpaw champion, Ellis (127¾) kept the action at long range whenever possible, his left hand being a key weapon, despite finding the going tough in the middle rounds when he tired. At that stage it looked as though Yuh (129¾) would go on to retain his crown, but in the 13th he was almost toppled by a solid right to the head. Following that, Ellis, cut around both eyes and his right cheek, went on to win the remaining rounds and the decision.
