1985-03-09 Milton McCrory w pts 12 Pedro Vilella, Bercy Sports Palace, Paris, France - WBC. Referee: Angelo Poletti. Scorecards: 120-112, 118-112, 120-112. Hammering away at his challenger almost from the opening bell, McCrory (147) soon had difficulty in reaching him with clean punches as the Puerto Rican southpaw carried a high guard and ducked low continuously. Although Vilella (142) was never in the hunt, his negative style stopped McCrory from expressing himself and when he occasionally went forward it was more of a wild charge that ended in bouts of slapping rather than scoring punches. A rare exchange, in the last round, saw McCrory forcing Vilella to the ropes and punching away with both hands to finish the fight as it started, followed by the obvious decision in his favour.
