1985-06-01 [[Carlos Santos]] w pts 15 [[Louis Acaries]], Princes Park Stadium, Paris, France - IBF. Referee: Larry Hazzard. Scorecards: 147-139, 147-138, 143-142. Dominating for long periods, the slippery southpaw champion piled up points during the first seven rounds as Acaries (153½), cut over the left eye early on, spent much of the time plodding after him. From thereon, however, Acaries got himself going as Santos (154) tired from his exertions, but although the former occasionally landed well and hurt his man with heavy rights and left hooks he was unable to make them pay and the moment was lost. The last two sessions saw the rejuvenated Santos totally in charge as he backed up the by now demoralised Acaries with blows from both hands to make the decision a foregone conclusion.
