1985-07-07 Julio Cesar Chavez w rsc 2 (12) Roger Mayweather, Riviera Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - WBC. Referee: Richard Steele. Although Mayweather (130), using a long left hand, boxed well and managed to keep the champion at bay in the opening round, it would be a different story in the second session as he was knocked down four times in all and stopped on the 2.30 mark. It was the right over the top that was the key punch for Chavez (129¾) and after initially dropping Mayweather with this blow the writing was on the wall.
