1985-09-21 [[Julio Cesar Chavez]] w pts 12 [[Dwight Pratchett]], Riviera Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - WBC. Referee: Davy Pearl. Scorecards: 118-110, 117-111, 120-109. Almost scornful of defence the champion pounded away mechanically at the stubborn Pratchett (128¼) throughout the fight, although he was unable to put his light-hitting opponent down. As round after round passed it seemed amazing that Pratchett was still there, especially in the tenth and 11th sessions when he was occasionally rocked sideways by the powerful hooks to head and body being delivered by Chavez (130). The final round once again saw an outclassed, bloodied and battered Pratchett under the cosh as Chavez, whipping in heavy left hooks to the body, went for a stoppage victory, but the challenger survived to gain the plaudits of the crowd.
