1985-09-28 [[Barry McGuigan]] w rtd 8 (15) [[Bernard Taylor]], King's Hall, Belfast, Northern Ireland - WBA. Referee: Isidro Rodriguez. Making his first defence, McGuigan (125½) was forced to chase the elusive Taylor (125½) for five rounds before he began to nail him. With McGuigan working away from head to body and Taylor less able to get away the fight got tougher for the latter and after being badly hurt during the eighth it came as no surprise when he was retired by his corner at the end of the round.
