1985-10-19 Lee Roy Murphy w co 12 (15) Chisanda Mutti, Louis 11 Stadium, Monte Carlo, Monaco - IBF. Referee: Larry Hazzard. Mixing his punches up well, the stylish Mutti (188) looked to be well ahead by the tenth, having dropped the champion heavily in the ninth and generally being on top. Murphy (190) had been hurt on several occasions up until then, but had somehow managed to keep going, and in the tenth he found a second wind when it looked as though Mutti was tiring rapidly. The 11th saw a complete reversal of form as Mutti, under the cosh for the first time, was lucky to last out the round after being dropped by a cracking left hook. Still behind on points, Murphy came out slugging in the 12th as he looked to find a winning blow, but Mutti had the same idea and both men went toe to toe. Dramatically, the fight ended when both men landed heavy rights to the head and both went to the floor at the same time, with Murphy just making it to his feet as Mutti was counted out on the 1.53 mark.
