1986-03-15 Patrizio Oliva w pts 15 Ubaldo Sacco, Louis 11 Stadium, Monte Carlo, Monaco - WBA. Referee: Frank Cappuccino. Scorecards: 147-144, 145-141, 140-145. Dominating the early rounds with the left jab, supported by left hooks and solid rights, the unbeaten Oliva (139¼) also proved able to fight back when under pressure as he did in the sixth when the champion cornered him on occasion. Although he was the aggressor throughout and looked to be the strongest of the pair, Sacco (139½) was unable to match the hand speed of the Italian and was unable to counter more often than not. As the fight wore on it appeared that Sacco was getting into the fight, especially when doing well in the tenth, but when Oliva had a point deducted in the 12th for holding and held his nerve, repelling most of the punches coming his way, he ran out a worthy winner.
