1986-04-30 Dennis Andries w pts 12 J.B Williamson, Picketts Lock Leisure Centre, Edmonton, London, England - WBC. Referee: Angelo Poletti. Scorecards: 116-114, 118-116, 113-115. Fighting as if his life depended on it, the British champion never left Williamson (172) alone as he punched his way to the title in what became an extremely close and gruelling contest. The fight seemed to be going in the cleverer Williamson’s favour at the end of the ninth, but Andries (173) made a big push in two of the last three rounds and at the final bell his work rate and effort was recognised favourably by two of the judges. It had been an untidy fight and while Williamson was carrying a cut under the left eye from the fifth round onwards it hardly affected the result.
