1986-05-15 [[Julio Cesar Chavez]] w rsc 5 (12) [[Faustino Barrios]], Pierre De Coubertin Stadium, Paris, France - WBC. Referee: Jean Deswert. Starting slowly and being caught by rights over the top in the opening two rounds, the champion gradually closed the distance on Barrios (129¼), who made a difficult target as he boxed off the back foot and moved well. By the third and fourth it was clear that Chavez (129¾) had the power to hurt the Argentinian, who was rocked by combinations of hooks and uppercuts throughout those sessions. In the fifth it was all Chavez as Barrios, now cut over the right eye and looking to survive, quickly began to wilt as a succession of heavy blows buckled his legs before he was rescued by the referee on the 2.02 mark.
