1986-07-24 Tsuyoshi Hamada w co 1 (12) Rene Arredondo, Kokugikan Arena, Tokyo, Japan - WBC. Referee: Steve Crosson. As soon as the opening bell rang the southpaw challenger tore into Arredondo (139½) with overarm rights and lefts before being driven almost through the ropes by solid left hooks. Still banging away, Hamada (139¼) would not be deterred and continued to try to close Arredondo down. In the last half minute of the session, the Mexican, caught up in a flurry of blows, fought back hard before wilting under a hail of leather and crashing down to be counted out after 3.09 of the first round, nine seconds into the interval.
