1986-08-03 [[Julio Cesar Chavez]] w pts 12 [[Rocky Lockridge]], Louis 11 Stadium, Monte Carlo, Monaco - WBC. Referee: Tony Perez. Scorecards: 119-114, 116-113, 116-116. Although Lockridge (129) started slowly, by the fifth he had worked his way into the fight and was giving Chavez (130) something to think about. Both men threw big punches from then on, and both took them well, but it was Chavez who threw more of them. The fight drew to an end with Lockridge still looking to land the ‘big one’, while Chavez, cut on the left eye, had upped his work-rate to justify the decision.
