1986-08-15 Jimmy Paul w pts 15 Darryl Tyson, Cobo Arena, Detroit, Michigan, USA - IBF. Referee: Sam Williams. Scorecards: 145-142, 145-140, 144-141. Under pressure in the early rounds and hurt in the second and fifth when caught by left hooks and right hands to the head, Paul (135) began to assert himself over his challenger in the seventh when he started to let the right hands go. Although Tyson (135) made a big effort in the 12th, when he came out firing with both hands, Paul weathered the storm and came back strongly with solid rights and combinations to rock the former as he took control. The last round saw Paul using the ring well as he jabbed and countered his way to the bell and a revenge win over the only man who had beaten him.
