1986-08-23 Mike McCallum w rsc 2 (15) Julian Jackson, Convention Centre, Miami Beach, Florida, USA - WBA. Referee: Eddie Eckert. This was a hard-hitting affair right from the opening bell as the challenger, having stopped 27 of his 29 previous opponents, came out bombing and soon hurt McCallum (152½) with a cracking left hook. Using all of his experience, McCallum somehow weathered the storm and in the second, although under pressure, he dropped Jackson (152) for the mandatory ‘eight’ with a right-left. Now it was McCallum’s turn to be the aggressor, and giving Jackson no chance to recover he unloaded incessant two-handed attacks from head to body that had the latter going before the referee jumped in to rescue him at 2.03 of the session.
