1986-09-06 [[Patrizio Oliva]] w rsc 3 (15) [[Brian Brunette]], Sports Palace, Naples, Italy - WBA. Referee: Guy Jutras. Having made the weight at the third attempt, Brunette (140) was taken to task by the champion almost from the opening bell, and having been speared several times by fast lefts he was then wobbled by left-right combinations before ending the round with his left eye closed. Oliva (139¼) soon got to Brunette in the second and he continued his attack in the third with heavy combinations which left the American all at sea with nowhere to go. The fight came to an end when the referee stopped it on the 2.38 mark after Brunette’s cornermen jumped into the ring to make sure that their man did not continue.
