1986-12-07 Hilario Zapata w pts 15 Claudemir Dias, Four Wheels Hotel, Salvador, Brazil - WBA. Referee: Bernie Soto. Although the better boxer of the two, Zapata (111¾) had far more trouble than he expected from the tough challenger and was put down by a southpaw left cross in the third round after being forced to take flurries of right jabs. Following that upset, Zapata settled down and found Dias (112) an easy target for solid body shots that brought the latter’s defences down time and again. It was a tough defence for the Panamanian who was often pushed, back, but he did more than enough to warrant the unanimous decision in his favour.
