1987-01-25 [[Chong-Pal Park]] w rsc 15 (15) [[Doug Sam]], Hilton Hotel, Seoul, South Korea - IBF. Referee: Herbert Minn. The opening nine rounds saw Sam (166¼) on the back foot, counter punching as the aggressive champion tried to get his punches off, and using the left lead well along with solid rights over the top. From the 11th on, however, it was all Park (167½) as he looked to take the fight by the scruff of the neck with strong rights hurting Sam, who was desperately tired at this stage of the fight. In the 14th Sam’s left eye was almost closed and although the referee let the fight continue he stopped it at 1.55 of the 15th when judging that the Australia unfit to continue after shipping lefts and rights to the head and not fighting back. Even though Sam protested bitterly at the stoppage, the judges had Park in front at that point with scores of 138-129, 135-132, 134-134.
