1987-03-29 Takuya Muguruma w co 5 (15) Azael Moran, City Gym, Moriguchi, Japan - WBA. Referee: Larry Rozadilla. Contested for the vacant title following the retirement of Bernardo Pinango, both men made a fair start before the big-punching Muguruma (118) got down to work in the fourth round and all the beleagured Moran (118) could manage was to defend himself against the onslaught. Having hurt the Panamanian right at the end of the fourth, Muguruma jumped all over his bewildered rival in the fifth and downed him twice with punches from all angles, the second knockdown resulting in a count out at 2.50.
