1987-05-17 Tae-Il Chang w pts 15 Soon-Chun Kwon, Kudok Gym, Pusan, South Korea - IBF. Referee: John Wheeler. Scorecards: 145-142, 144-142, 143-144. Fighting for the title vacated when Elly Pical was stripped, and in a battle of southpaws, the lanky Chang (114¾) was awarded the decision over Kwon (114¾), the former IBF flyweight champion, in a tight run affair that could have gone either way. Kwon had controlled the early rounds with good in-fighting, but Chang turned it around when scoring heavily with a combination of hooks and straight punches. There were no knockdowns.
