1987-05-23 Leslie Stewart w rtd 8 (15) Marvin Johnson, National Stadium, Port of Spain, Trinidad, USA - WBA. Referee: Bernie Soto. Cheered on by his local fans, Stewart (175) turned the tables on the southpaw champion despite having had had difficulty making the weight immediately prior to the weigh-in. With his hard career fast catching up with him, Johnson (175) was dropped twice in the opening round and was outpunched from thereon as Stewart took revenge. Although Stewart was cut on the left eye in the second round there was no let-up in his work and while unable to drop Johnson the latter was so exhausted that he was retired by his corner after the eighth.
