1987-07-19 [[Jose Luis Ramirez]] w pts 12 [[Terrence Alli]], Open Air Arena, St Tropez, France - WBC. Referee: Tony Perez. Scorecards: 115-113, 115-113, 114-113. Fighting to find a successor to [[Hector Camacho]] following his decision to move up a weight class, Alli (135), who caught the eye with his hand speed, got away well and looked to be in control by the seventh before the heavier-hitting Ramirez (134) was able to find a way through. In the ninth, as Alli tired from his exertions, Ramirez was able to land with hooks and uppercuts from his southpaw stance and with the former not moving too well he piled on the pressure right through to the 12th round. With both men needing to make a good impression in the final session it was Ramirez who succeeded and Alli, who looked to be on the verge of being stopped, only just made it to the bell.
