1987-07-26 Chong-Pal Park w co 4 (15) Emmanuel Otti, The Coliseum, Kwangju, South Korea - IBF. Referee: Bill Connors. In what was a fairly lively scrap while it lasted the champion yet again proved that despite being wild on occasion he had the power to finish opponents off. Catching up with Otti (167¾) in the fourth round Park (168) eventually dropped his man with solid body shots that sent the Ugandan down to be counted out eight seconds after the bell had gone to end the session.

Park relinquished the IBF version of the title in December, immediately prior to meeting Jesus Gallardo for the inaugural WBA crown. That was followed by Graciano Rocchigiani and Vincent Boulware being matched to decide the vacant IBF title.
