1987-08-09 Rocky Lockridge w rtd 8 (15) Barry Michael, Blazer's Night Club, Windsor, England - IBF. Referee: Joe Santarpia. Suffering a broken nose in the first round was just the start of a bad night for the champion, as Lockridge (128¼) consistently beat him to the punch and pounded him to the body to grind him down. Having done reasonably well with body punches of his own, the fourth saw Michael (130) suffer another injury when his left ear drum went and from there it was all uphill. Although Michael, trying to turn the fight, stayed in there bravely he was a spent force in the eighth and after receiving another battering he announced his retirement from the corner during the interval.
