1987-08-11 Edwin Rosario w co 8 (15) Juan Nazario, University of Illinois Pavilion, Chicago, Illinois, USA - WBA. Referee: Carlos Berrocal. Instead of the using his skills and southpaw jab, the challenger went blindly after Rosario (134¾) from the opening bell and was ultimately made to pay. After a tough start, Rosario continued to remain cool and began to make his move in the fourth when driving in rights to head and body before landing a cracking left uppercut that took a lot out of Nazario (134½). Cut over both eyes in the fifth, Nazario began to be rocked by everything coming his way and in the eighth a left hook dropped him on to his knees where he was counted out after 2.43 of the session. At the WBA convention held in October, the membership announced that all world title bouts in future held under their auspices would be contested over 12 rounds.
