1987-08-30 Lloyd Honeyghan w rsc 1 (15) Gene Hatcher, New Andalveia Bullring, Marbella, Spain - IBF/WBC. Referee: Jean Deswerts. All over after 45 seconds of the opening round, Honeyghan (147) set a record as the quickest winner of a world title bout when stopping a challenger who had barely warmed up. Having knocked his challenger down with the first punch of the contest, a right hand that seemed to come from the floor, Honeyghan quickly went to work following the mandatory count and at least 20 punches smashed in to Hatcher (147) before the latter slid to the canvas as the referee was belatedly halting the bout. Due to it being contested over 15 rounds and not 12, although the WBC recognised Honeyghan as the champion they were not involved in the promotion.
