1987-10-03 [[Brian Mitchell]] w pts 15 [[Daniel Londas]], International Swimming Pool, Gravelines, France - WBA. Referee: John Coyle. Scorecards: 146-145, 147-138, 148-143. Although Mitchell (129) floored his challenger twice for the mandatory ‘eight’, once in the third and again in the 12th round, he was missing his normal spark and with his timing off on occasion was forced to travel the full distance. Unfortunately for Londas (128½), he lacked the power required to take the title and, unable to do any damage against a physically stronger man, the fight dragged along at a slow pace until the final bell. At their convention a few weeks later, the WBA announced that in future all world title bouts held under their banner would be contested over 12 rounds.
