1987-10-18 Hiroki Ioka w pts 12 Mai Thomburifarm, Kinki University Auditorium, Osaka, Japan - WBC. Referee: Marty Denkin. Scorecards: 119-109, 119-111, 120-105. Aged 18 and a half, Ioka (104), the Japanese champion at the weight, became Japan’s youngest ever world champion when he collected a unanimous points verdict over Thailand’s top ranked Thomburifarm (104½) to land the WBC’s inaugural mini-flyweight title. There were no knockdowns and the speedy Ioka, using sharp and accurate combinations to head and body, outjabbed and outran his slower rival throughout.
