1987-10-18 Hiroki Ioka w pts 12 Mai Thomburifarm, Kinki University Auditorium, Osaka, Japan - WBC. Referee: Marty Denkin. Scorecards: 119-109, 119-111, 120-105. Aged 18 and a half, Ioka (104), the Japanese champion at the weight, became Japan’s youngest ever world champion when he collected a unanimous points verdict over Thailand’s top ranked Thomburifarm (104½) to land the WBC’s inaugural mini flyweight title. There were no knockdowns, the speedy Ioka using sharp and accurate combinations to head and body to outjab and outrun his slower rival throughout.
