1987-10-25 Rocky Lockridge w rsc 10 (15) Johnny De La Rosa, Community Centre, Tucson, Arizona, USA - IBF. Referee: Al Munoz. Surviving a third-round knockdown and a gashed nose, Lockridge (130) came back strongly after the much taller challenger had got on top during the opening five rounds. Both men traded hard blows in the sixth, but it was now clear that Lockridge was right back in the fight with De La Rosa (130) beginning to give ground as the body punches took effect. In the tenth, with both men looking tired, Lockridge finally found the punches he needed, battering De La Rosa with rights and left hooks until a heavy right put the Dominican down for the mandatory ‘eight’. With De La Rosa back on his feet the fight was called off at 2.43 after the referee took one look at him before deciding that he was in no fit state to continue.
