1987-10-29 Thomas Hearns w co 4 (12) Juan Domingo Roldan, Hilton Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - WBC. Referee: Mills Lane. On winning the vacant WBA title, Hearns (159½) became the first man to win world championships in four different weight divisions. It was an exciting fight and one that seemed to have everything, Roldan (159½) being knocked down twice in the first round and again in the second before storming back to win the third and having Hearns going in the fourth. At that stage Hearns was fighting Roldan’s fight, but after being forced to hold on for dear life, his legs quivering, he recovered to find a big right to the jaw that sent the latter down face first to be counted out on the 2.01 mark. An interesting statistic showed that Roldan threw 242 punches of which just 67 landed.
