1987-11-21 Virgil Hill w pts 12 Rufino Angulo, Pierre De Coubertin Stadium, Paris, France - WBA. Referee: John Coyle. Scorecards: 118-111, 120-107, 120-107. After dropping Angulo (173¼) with a left hook counter in the opening round the champion settled down to control the contest with an accurate left-hand lead, picking his man off throughout. Angulo was always a danger, being strong and aggressive, but he lacked the tools to worry Hill (174½) unduly and many of his wild swings were avoided with ease. Occasionally Hill was forced to give ground, but it was never more than momentarily and Angulo was usually made to pay.
