1988-06-06 Roger Mayweather w pts 12 Harold Brazier, Hilton Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - WBC. Referee: Carlos Padilla. Scorecards: 114-113, 116-111, 115-116. Despite dominating the opening three rounds with the left jab the champion came under pressure from the fourth onwards as Brazier (140) began to get into the fight, especially with the right cross. Several times during the middle sessions Mayweather (140) looked to be on the verge of being knocked out as Brazier cut loose with lefts and rights, but he showed great resilience to keep going. The final stages saw both men having success with heavy head punches, and although Brazier hurt Mayweather in the tenth and 11th the latter proved himself to be a worthy champion when coming back with hurtful punches of his own in the 15th to just about warrant the decision.
