1988-06-06 Virgil Hill w pts 12 Ramzi Hassan, Hilton Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - WBA. Referee: Mills Lane. Scorecards: 118-109, 116-112, 118-109. Making hard work of what should have been a relatively easy defence, Hill (174½) was forced to travel the full distance as Hassan (175) ultimately proved to be a tough nut to crack. Although outboxing Hassan for most of the way, landing with left jabs, left hooks and right crosses, with the durable man from Jordan taking everything in his stride Hill never looked likely to win inside the distance. Docked a point for going low in the 11th hardly changed anything for Hill, but what was a surprise was the fact that one of the judges actually gave Hassan three rounds.
